Quick Hits: Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Jesse McCartney, O.A.R., Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
July 28, 2005

Foo Fighters

A handful of news out of the Foo Fighters' camp. The band has been added to the Voodoo Music Experience festival, taking place October 29 and 30 in New Orleans. They have also announced on their Web site that they will be a part of Oasis' massive stadium gig in Cardiff, Wales on December 10. And "D.O.A." has been selected as the second single from In Your Honor. The Foos recently filmed the video for the track, which puts the band in a room that rotates 360 degrees. Director Mike Palmieri tried to describe the concept to MTV, saying, "Halfway through the song, they're completely upside down. The whole video goes one 360-degree rotation ... and at the end ... it's back to zero. So when you're watching the video, it's slowly turning upside down on you. You'll see the band, and the camera is locked, but their hair is sideways, at a 90-degree angle, which shows that it's the first minute of the video mark. It's pretty much the most confusing video idea ever."

As expected, Pearl Jam have added a Philadelphia date to their slowly expanding fall itinerary. The band will play the Wachovia Center on October 3, after playing a pair of sold out gigs in Atlantic City the previous two nights. Tickets for the Philly show go on sale Saturday, August 6. Sleater-Kinney will open the show. Pearl Jam will be out on the road quite a bit this fall, spending most of September on a tour of Canada and opening a few concerts for The Rolling Stones.

Jesse McCartney is the latest artist to take part in Clear Channel's stripped series of Internet exclusive live performances. McCartney's set includes a performance of a song by another McCartney, The Beatles' classic "Blackbird." His stripped performance can be seen on over 115 Clear Channel stations' Web sites, as well as StrippedMusic.com.

O.A.R. will release their seventh album, Stories Of A Stranger, on October 4. The lead single, "The Stranger," will go to AAA and Hot AC stations on August 22. "We've got a lot riding on this record," said O.A.R. singer Marc Roberge. "We tend to get pigeon holed as a jam band, a college band or a touring band. We haven't been taken seriously as songwriters and this is our chance to prove that we are first and foremost a Rock & Roll band and our songs have staying power." Stories Of A Stranger was produced by former Talking Heads member Jerry Harrison.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was damaged by severe storms in Ohio earlier this week. Heavy winds tore at the building's underside, pieces of aluminum ripped off of the outside of the Hall and a pole was knocked down.
