Citadel Active Rock WKLQ(107.3)/Grand Rapids expanded its coverage in Michigan on August 15 by adding `KLQ's format to the 92.5 (WKOQ)/Muskegon frequency. PD Darrin Arriens tells FMQB that this is not just a typical simulcast in that the imaging is specialized for the 92.5 frequency and the Muskegon audience. With the two signals Arriens estimates that "WKLQ" is now covering 80-85 percent of the state.

KCLD and KCML/St. Cloud PD Chris Pickett moves to the PD post at KVUU & KKLI/Colorado Springs. Pickett, who starts on August 29, replaces Jojo Turnbeaugh at KVUU and John Merriam at KKLI. Turnbeaugh is now PD at sister KCCY, while Merriam moved over to Jones Radio Networks.

Changes at Clear Channel-Atlanta as WKLS/Atlanta PD Jeff McMurray and WGST-AM PD Bruce Collins exit.

KBBT (The Beat 98.5)/San Antonio morning host Lady K exits.

Kallao resigns from his MD/afternoon gig at KFMA/Tucson.

Clear Channel Communications Inc. has won a reversal of a $70 million punitive damage award in a lawsuit with Jam Sports & Entertainment, reports the Los Angeles Times. U.S.District Court Judge Matthew Kennelly ordered a new trial in the suit that acussed Clear Channel of blocking Jam Sports from promoting motorcycle races. Kennelly said a new trial was needed because "of a significant ambiguity in the damage award."

Dave Michaels, Director/Country Progamming for Artistic Media Partners, resigns. Michaels had oversight of WBTU/FT. Wayne and WLFF/Lafayette as well as CHR WAZY/Lafayette. WBTU APD JJ Davis assumes interim duties at WBTU and WLFF. WAZY APD/MD Stephanie Patterson takes on duties there until a replacement is found.

KTXX/Karnes City flips from CHR to Air America 103.1, San Antone. The suburban San Antonio outlet is now the 70th Air America affiliate.

Qantum/Cape Cod announces the following changes: Kevin Matthews, WERZ/Portsmouth APD/MD/morning guy shifts to the PD/morning host gig at WCOD/Cape Cod as Cheryl Park exits. Joe Rosetti, WCOD afternoon host, is awarded the APD/MD gig and tacks on OM responsibilities at WXTK.

WLTY/Columbia goes from Lite 96.7 to the more Jack-ish 96.7 Steve-FM. Gary Barboza continues a s PD.

Sirius names former Virgin and Universal Records executive Lisa Hirsh Director of Talent and Industry Relations, reporting to VP/Talent & Industry Affairs Steve Leeds.  

Setanta Media's Mobile Entertainment Group and RadioTraks combine efforts on a deal whereby Setanta will acquire the rights to distribute RadioTraks' "E-Quest Alert" e-mail and text message song alert system to Canadian and U.K. radio stations and RadioTraks in-turn takes the U.S. rights to Setanta's "Premium SMS" sports text message alerts and mobile personalization system.

PodShow, the podcasting start-up co-founded by former MTV veejay (now dubbed "The Podfather") Adam Curry, has received an $8.85 million infusion from investors which include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital and Shapiro Ventures. The company, already a big player in the emerging space, will use this first round of financing to expand its feature set, programming and technology.

Music Choice announed that its audio music channels now reach forty million homes via digital cable and DIRECTV. Music Choice boasts a satisfaction rate exceeding ninety percent with its audience.

eMusic, the world's number two digital download service, has surpassed 100,000 paying subscribers. In addition, the company promotes David Packman from COO to President/CEO.
