Citadel Active Rock WKLQ(107.3)/Grand Rapids expanded its coverage in Michigan on August 15 by adding `KLQ's format to the 92.5 (WKOQ)/Muskegon frequency. PD Darrin Arriens tells FMQB that this is not just a typical simulcast in that the imaging is specialized for the 92.5 frequency and the Muskegon audience. With the two signals Arriens estimates that "WKLQ" is now covering 80-85 percent of the state.
KCLD and KCML/St. Cloud PD Chris Pickett moves to the PD post at KVUU & KKLI/Colorado Springs. Pickett, who starts on August 29, replaces Jojo Turnbeaugh at KVUU and John Merriam at KKLI. Turnbeaugh is now PD at sister KCCY, while Merriam moved over to Jones Radio Networks.

Clear Channel Communications Inc. has won a reversal of a $70 million punitive damage award in a lawsuit with Jam Sports & Entertainment, reports the Los Angeles Times. U.S.District Court Judge Matthew Kennelly ordered a new trial in the suit that acussed Clear Channel of blocking Jam Sports from promoting motorcycle races. Kennelly said a new trial was needed because "of a significant ambiguity in the damage award."
Dave Michaels, Director/Country Progamming for Artistic Media Partners, resigns. Michaels had oversight of WBTU/FT. Wayne and WLFF/Lafayette as well as CHR WAZY/Lafayette. WBTU APD JJ Davis assumes interim duties at WBTU and WLFF. WAZY APD/MD Stephanie Patterson takes on duties there until a replacement is found.
KTXX/Karnes City flips from CHR to Air America 103.1, San Antone. The suburban San Antonio outlet is now the 70th Air America affiliate.

Setanta Media's Mobile Entertainment Group and RadioTraks combine efforts on a deal whereby Setanta will acquire the rights to distribute RadioTraks' "E-Quest Alert" e-mail and text message song alert system to Canadian and U.K. radio stations and RadioTraks in-turn takes the U.S. rights to Setanta's "Premium SMS" sports text message alerts and mobile personalization system.
