Popular New York radio personality Booker has returned to the Big Apple via Rocker WXRK where he can now be heard weekdays from 2-7 p.m. He replaces Ian Camfield who exited recently to return to his former London station xfm. “We wanted Booker back where he belongs…on New York Radio and his long time home 92.3 K-Rock," said K-Rock PD Mark Chernoff. "Our listeners and our advertisers are going to love having him back. We look forward to a great run with Booker”. Booker, who had previously logged time at WXRK back in the late ‘90s, was also heard on WFNY and CHR WHTZ, in addition to his work as an MTV personality. He was most recently heard in morning drive at CHR WIOQ/Philadelphia.
WZMR/Albany is sporting a fresh new lineup and morning show with Mulrooney In The Morning featuring Mike The Enforcer. John Mulrooney comes from former crosstown Rocker WPYX, and Mike the Enforcer continues as WZMR's APD/MD in addition to his morning show duties. Gazer is still in the midday slot while Boomer takes the afternoon drive shift and Focker will handle 7 to midnight.
Sean Lynch exits the APD/midday gig at Rock WQBW/Milwaukee for mornings at Classic Rocker WYMG/Springfield. Lynch will team with Liz Willis for the Lynch & Liz Show which hits the air on January 12.
Mark Vogelzang, President/CEO of Vermont Public Radio, will exit on February 1. Robin Turnau, VP/Development, will rise to replace Vogelzang as President/CEO. Vogelzang will now focus on a national fundraising public radio effort.
Yangaroo formally recieved a U.S. Patent on December 30 for its DMDS system. Variety reports that the Recording Academy has adopted Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party, set for February 7. Davis' yearly event has also been held the week of the Grammys, but never had a formal connection with the Academy until now. The gala will include the Academy's Salute to Industry Icons as well.
Trans World Entertainment reports that its sales fell 14 percent during the nine-week holiday shopping season, up to January 3. Total sales were $287 millio, compared to $378 million the previous year. During the nine-week period, the company also operated approximately 18 percent fewer stores than last year. "Sales for the holiday season were well below our expectations," commented Chairman/CEO Robert J. Higgins. "With this season's holiday sales being lower than our expectations, we now anticipate EBITDA for the fourth quarter of $15 to $20 million with an annual EBITDA loss for fiscal 2008 in the range of $20 to $25 million, compared to our previously issued annual guidance of $10 to $15 million."
