Quick Hits: Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow, Gorillaz, Lil Jon, Fiona Apple, Live, Bloodhound Gang, Hope Partlow, Underoath
September 6, 2005

Pearl Jam has announced their long-awaited South American tour dates. Eight shows have been announced for November and December in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Pearl Jam is touring Canada for much of September, with a handful of other, scattered shows this fall, including opening for The Rolling Stones. Their next album is expected early in 2006.

Sheryl Crow

Congratulations to Sheryl Crow and cycling champ Lance Armstrong. The world-famous couple have gotten engaged, according to Armstrong's spokesman. The pair have been dating since late in 2003. Crow will release her next album, Wildflower, on September 27. Armstrong of course recently won his seventh Tour de France.

Cartoon band Gorillaz plan to hit the road for a world tour, but it may not happen until 2007. The NME reports that state-of-the-art holographic technology could be used to bring the toon group to life. It is unknown if the concerts will also include live musicians or pre-recorded music. Capitol Music U.K. President Keith Wozencroft told Music Week that "Gorillaz are a perfect band for the new age in that they fit with what’s happening in the digital world... We always believed there could be a move into games, films or a tour and this is the first example of us realizing one of those possibilities.” The live technology will be tested in London late next month with a performance of "Feel Good Inc."

Lil Jon is working with some of his heroes in the studio. The Rapper/producer tells MTV.com he is recording new material with Ice Cube and Too Short. Jon said. "I grew up on N.W.A — N.W.A and Too Short were my favorite groups. So to just be in the studio, and for him to listen to me and let me guide him, ask me what I think... I still can't believe I'm cool with Cube like that, 'cause that's Ice Cube."

Fiona Apple's upcoming Extraordinary Machine, her first new release in six years, will be released as both a regular CD and a DualDisc. The DualDisc version includes an enhanced LPMC Stereo mix of the album, videos, five live performances and behind-the-scenes footage from the studio. Extraordinary Machine comes out on October 4.

Live has signed with Epic Records and will release their new album, Songs From Black Mountain, in mid-November.  The lead single, "The River," arrives at radio later this month. The band has a handful of concerts scheduled currently, including an appearance at KROQ/Los Angeles' Inland Invasion festival.

Speaking of Pennsylvania bands, the Bloodhound Gang is running a scavenger hunt (or "stalker hunt" as they're calling it) in New York City on September 24. Contestants can win pitchers of beer, concert tickets or BHG merchandise. Details can be found here. The Gang's new album, Hefty Fine, is out September 27.

Pop singer Hope Partlow will tour Wal-Mart parking lots in a promotional jaunt this fall, starting in Atlanta on September 13 and winding up in Columbus, GA on October 9. Her album Who We Are lands in stores today.

Underoath will re-release their album They're Only Chasing Safety as a limited edition CD/DVD on October 4. The band begins a Canadian tour alongside The Used beginning this Thursday, and will tour with extensively with Thrice beginning in early October.
