Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp will release his solo debut, The Great Divide, on November 22 through Wind-up Records. The lead single is its title track, which goes for adds at radio this coming week. Stapp and Wind-Up have also signed a deal with NASCAR, in which he will make multiple appearances connected to the NASCAR circuit. He will also sing the national anthem at the Ford 400 race in his home state of Florida on November 20."Scott Stapp's emotional intensity and powerful performance make him the perfect artist to represent the NASCAR experience," said Sarah Nettinga of NASCAR Digital Entertainment. "We are also thrilled that Scott will be on hand to kick off the Miami Ford 400 event and bring his music directly to the NASCAR fans."
"I'm a huge NASCAR fan," adds Stapp. "I loved performing at the NASCAR awards banquet last year and I can't wait to sing the national anthem in November at the championship race in Homestead. It's a real honor to partner with NASCAR in promoting the cup challenge."
Stapp spoke to MTV last month about his solo career and about the name The Great Divide. "In no way is it a reference to the breakup of my former band," he said. "I wouldn't put that much emphasis on it by calling it 'great.' I only know how to talk about things that are going on in my life through my music. So a lot of the past is reflected in this song. As you grow older, there are certain things you shed. And in reflection, I looked back at our younger days and think, 'Wow, I don't know how I made it through that. Thank God I'm alive.' And this song has a lot of that in it."
