Ashlee Goes For Round 2 On SNL

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson is finally returning back to Saturday Night Live after her notorious SNL "incident."

"I think everything happens for a reason," Simpson told MTV.com. "I feel like I became a stronger person and I definitely grew from that situation. I really learned how to stand up for myself."

The singer will be making a guest appearance on the show this Saturday (October 8) to redeem herself from her last appearance when a mix up revealed Simpson was lip-synching along to the live performance. Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder is the host.

Simpson said that the most important thing that has resulted from her career-defining moment on her last SNL appearance was accepting her imperfections. She has two songs that address her previous SNL mix-up: "Beautifully Broken" and "Catch Me When I Fall." The singer says that the songs are "basically saying that it's ok to be broken, that there's a beauty in that."

"I wouldn't have some of the songs on my record if it weren't for learning that it's ok to fall on your face, it's life to learn how to put yourself back together," said the pop singer. "Those songs didn't happen till later on my record, until I was kind of really ready for it and had the right view on it. I'm really happy with the way the songs turned out. But I wanted to do them no matter what."

Simpson's latest album I Am Me is set to be released on October 18.
