The Voodoo Music Festival, originally slated for New Orleans, will now split its time between the hurricane-ravaged city and Memphis. The first night of the festival (October 29) will take place in New Orleans, with the second night (October 30) in Memphis. On the festival's Web site, the organizers write "Two cities united with a common goal: to celebrate and renew the city of New Orleans. As a sign of support and rebirth as New Orleans begins to rebuild, this observance of music will bring together the diversity of culture that serves as the foundation for both cities." The New Orleans concert will feature Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age, HIM, Sevendust, the New York Dolls and more, while the Memphis event includes performances from Cake, The North Mississippi All-Stars, Better Than Ezra, Cowboy Mouth and a second set from HIM, New York Dolls, Sevendust and other acts.A release date has been set for Outkast's upcoming movie soundtrack, Idlewild. The anticipated album will drop on December 6 via LaFace/Jive Records. The film itself will arrive in theaters in January of 2006. The lead single will be "Idlewild Blues."
Common has dropped off the bill of Kanye West's fall tour, after being cast in a new film. MTV.com reports that West will not replace the Rapper on the tour, instead extending his own set. Fantasia and Keyshia Cole are still on board for the Touch The Sky tour, which kicked off last night in Miami.
The Strokes have set January 3 as the release date for their third album, First Impressions Of The Earth. The lead single, "Juicebox," arrived at radio earlier this month. According to Billboard, other new songs from the New York band that we can expect to hear include "I'll Try Anything Once," "Ask Me Anything," "Heart In A Cage" and "The Ize Of The World."

A five-disc Billy Joel box set is set for release on December 6. My Lives will include 23 previously-unreleased songs and a live DVD shot in Frankfurt. Billboard reports the set will span Joel's entire career, beginning with bands he played in from the mid-1960s.
Godsmack is back in the studio, working on the follow-up to 2003's Faceless. A report on the band's Web site says they are rehearsing in the Boston area, with the finished album expected sometime in 2006.
R&B singer Faith Evans will release a holiday-themed record, A Faithful Christmas, on October 25. The Grammy-winner performs a number of Christmas standards on the album.
