 Disturbed
| Disturbed has been forced to cancel the remaining dates on their European tour because singer David Draiman was diagnosed with severe inflammation of the vocal chords. He has been advised by a specialist in London to completely rest his voice until he receives a clean bill of health, and has now travelled back to Los Angeles to receive further treatment, according to the U.K.'s NME. A statement from the band said, "Please note that all cancelled shows will be rescheduled and the new dates will be announced as soon as they're confirmed. Fans are asked to keep hold of their tickets as the dates are likely to be set for next March." There is no word on whether this will effect Disturbed's headlining stint on the Jagermeister Music Tour, which is scheduled to start November 4 in Minneapolis.
An October 24 benefit concert for the MusiCares organization will double as a tribute to Sublime. Tim Armstrong (Rancid, Transplants), No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal and Angelo Moore of Fishbone will perform Sublime songs at the event, which will be held in Hollywood. Ex-Sublime bassist Eric Wilson and his current band, Long Beach Shortbus, will perform as well, along with Unwritten Law, Ozomatli, Blackalicious and Fishbone. Jed The Fish of KROQ/Los Angeles will serve as a co-host for the show.
Rapper Foxy Brown has told People magazine that she is suffering from severe and sudden sensorineural hearing loss in both ears. "I started breaking down in tears and screaming and I couldn't even hear myself scream," she told the magazine. The Rapper is not currently responding to treatment but she hopes that she'll be able to make music again. "I know God is working on me," she said. "I'm on a personal journey. I believe God wants to be the only voice I hear right now. I know I will be all right."
The Black Crowes have tapped My Morning Jacket and the North Mississippi Allstars to open for them at a New Year's Eve show at New York's Madison Square Garden. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday (10/22). Meanwhile, The Crowes will begin a five-night stand at Los Angeles' Henry Fonda Theatre on Tuesday and their tour wraps on Halloween in Chicago.A new Bob Marley compilation includes the first official, new recording from the Reggae legend in over a decade. Africa Unite: The Singles Collection features "Slogans," a previously-unreleased demo beefed up by sons Stephen and Ziggy Marley and Eric Clapton. Africa Unite also includes a remix of the title track by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and a mash-up of "Get Up, Stand Up" with Damien Marley's new hit "Welcome To Jamrock." Africa Unite will be released on November 8. Also set for release is the DVD of Live! At The Rainbow, a 1977 Wailers concert filmed in London.
On November 15, Warner Bros. Records will release Private Investigations - The Very Best Of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler. The collection spans Knopfler's entire career in Dire Straits as well as selections from his solo albums. The final track on Private Investigations, "All The Roadrunning," is exclusive to the best-of collection and features a duet with Knopfler and Emmylou Harris that will be on their forthcoming album, to be released in 2006.
Origin Of Symmetry, the second album from U.K. Rockers Muse, has finally seen release in the States. Due to label issues when it originally came out in 2001, Origin Of Symmetry was not released in the U.S., but was a hit elsewhere around the world. Warner Bros. has released the album after the success of last year's Absolution. Guitarist/producer Jim O'Rourke has left Sonic Youth, after joining the band as an official member a few years back. Guitarist/singer Lee Ranaldo told Pitchforkmedia that O'Rourke is planning on devoting more time to working in film. Meanwhile, Sonic Youth is working on their next studio album.
