Quick Hits: Green Day, Trey Anastasio, The White Stripes, Deftones, Soul Asylum, Sleater-Kinney, The Rentals
October 26, 2005

Green Day has debuted the nine-minute edit of the video for "Jesus Of Suburbia" on their MySpace page, while the full, 14-minute version will debut online at iFilm.com next Tuesday, November 1. Singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong is reportedly set to appear on the cover of a future issue of Rolling Stone, and the band will perform on TRL on November 10. Additionally, an MTV special is in the works to promote their new live DVD, Bullet In A Bible, which arrives in stores on November 15.

Ex-Phish singer/guitarist Trey Anastasio will take over Sirius satellite radio for a day on Tuesday, November 1. He will spend 17 hours straight on-air playing what he wants, including songs from his new album Shine, which lands in stores that day. You can hear Anastasio from 7 a.m. to midnight on channel 17, "Jam On." Additionally, a live performance from him will air the next night on channel 18, "The Spectrum."

The White Stripes

The White Stripes have announced four Japanese tour dates for January of 2006. The Detroit duo will then play the Big Day Out festival in New Zealand and Australia later that month. In other news, the Stripes have covered Tegan And Sara's "Walking With A Ghost" for an upcoming EP release.

The Deftones are still working on their fifth album as lead singer Chino Moreno is spending the next month recording his vocals, reports MTV.com. The title of the album and release date are still not set, but the California band has been confirmed to headline this springs's second annual Taste Of Chaos tour, according to their Web site.

Soul Asylum rocked the stage for the first time since the death of their bassist Karl Mueller on Monday (October 24) at Minneapolis' First Avenue, reports MTV.com. Their new bassist, Tommy Stinson (formerly of fellow Minnesota Rockers The Replacements) also made his debut with the band.

Sleater-Kinney has been forced to cancel their U.K. and European tour dates. According to a statement from the band, "Sleater-Kinney regretfully must cancel their November and European dates on account of medical issues. Guitarist/singer Carrie Brownstein has suffered two severe allergic reactions within the past four months, both resulting in trips to the emergency room. Her doctor has advised that she not travel/tour for prolonged periods of time until the condition stabilizes and further tests are conducted. The band apologizes to all the people that this cancellation affects." The trio are hoping to reschedule the dates for next spring.

The Rentals are making a return! According to their Web site, "We are extremely excited and happy to announce the unexpected and true return of the Rentals. The band is currently in Los Angeles writing, rehearsing and preparing to record their third studio album." Their album is set to be released sometime in 2006. The Rentals began as the side project of then-Weezer bassist Matt Sharp and scored a hit with "Friends Of P" off their ironically-titled debut Return Of The Rentals. Current Saturday Night Live cast member Maya Rudolph also logged time as part of the touring lineup of The Rentals.
