October 28, 2005

Slipknot

Slipknot had to cancel their Thursday and Friday concerts in Philadelphia due to the death of the father of percussionist Shawn Crahan (a.k.a Clown). "We are working on rescheduling the dates and will let everyone know as soon as possible," reads a post on the band's Web site. The tour is scheduled to resume on Sunday night in New York, and runs through November 15 in Milwaukee. Meanwhile, listen for FMQB Productions' Inside Slipknot 9.0: Live radio special, airing on radio stations across the country this weekend.

ABC will broadcast a pilot episode of Elton John's new television show, the Rocket Man, reports Reuters.com. The show centers around an aging rocker, his manager and his entourage of people in his life. The script is being written by Sex In The City executive producer Cindy Chupack.

The Michael Jackson-penned single to benefit hurricane victims has had more work done to it in the past few days, reports Billboard.com. Jackson spokesperson Raymone Bain said that the track will no longer be called "From The Bottom Of My Heart" and that a new track name will be released soon. Bain said that since the beginning of the month Jackson "was in London tweaking the music as well as putting the finishing touches on it before sending it out to various artists" that were going to contribute to the track. Jackson did end up rewriting the song and "he didn't need as many artists as he originally had planned for," said Bain.

Metal fans will now have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at Ozzfest with the live CD and DVD, Ozzfest 10th Anniversary, due on November 22. Filmed at the Donington, U.K. show and the back lots of the Camden, NJ show where it was brutally hot, the Ozzfest 10th Anniversary DVD and CD feature performances from Black Sabbath, Velvet Revolver, Anthrax, H.I.M., Trivium and Rob Zombie, among others. The DVD also includes interviews with Ozzy, Sharon and Jack Osbourne as they tell the story of the history of Ozzfest with a special walk-around tour with behind-the-scene footage of the concert.

Speaking of Metal DVDs, Judas Priest will release the new live DVD Rising In the East on November 15 via Rhino Home Video. The definitive lineup of vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis filmed Rising In The East in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan venue in Tokyo. The track listing includes "A Touch Of Evil," "Judas Rising," "Revolution," "Breaking The Law," "Diamonds And Rust," "Living After Midnight," "You've Got Another Thing Coming" and many other classics.

California rockers Sublime will have their most comprehensive and retrospective 'Best Of' album released on November 15. Entitled Sublime: Gold, it will contain 42 digitally re-mastered tracks of their hits and rare songs. To celebrate their 10-year anniversary, a box set will be released. Entitled Sublime Retrospective Boxed Set, it contains three CDs and one DVD that include unreleased live and radio show performances, demos and rare videos.

Rob Zombie will re-release his album Hellbilly Deluxe, featuring the hits "Superbeast" and "Living Dead Girl," as a special CD/DVD package. Hellbilly Deluxe - Deluxe Edition, due November 22, will feature the original album on CD plus a video for each song on the DVD. Nine of the videos are previously unreleased.

Ryan Adams will release his new album on December 20, reports Pitchforkmedia.com. Entitled 29, it will be the third full-length album he has released in this year alone. Adams is currently set to perform at Las Vegas' Vegoose Festival this weekend.
