A report on the fashion Web site WWD.com says that the entrepreneurial Jay-Z may be considering making a bid to purchase Hip-Hop magazine The Source, which faces legal action from its landlord and major creditor for failure to pay rent and loans. The report says that Jay could possibly team up in the bid with Warner Music Group's Lyor Cohen and Interscope's Steve Stoute, but this is not confirmed. If this did indeed happen, Jay could add magazine publishing to his crowded resume, which already includes Rapper, Island Def Jam President, sports bar operator and partial New Jersey Nets owner.
Meanwhile, Jay has signed The Roots to the new artist-driven imprint Def Jam Left, and their next album, Game Theory, is due next year. It will feature guest spots from Mos Def and Talib Kweli, according to AllHipHop.com.
