The Red Hot Chili Peppers' long-awaited new studio album is tentatively slated to arrive in stores this April, bassist Flea tells Rolling Stone. The veteran L.A. band has titled the record Stadium Arcadium. "It's very honest music, and I feel like we improved as craftsmen," he told the magazine backstage at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, where he and frontman Anthony Kiedis were presenting an award. "We gave all we had to this album."The Chilis worked on the album with longtime producer Rick Rubin once again, and spent seven months writing and rehearsing before going into the studio. They are currently mixing the new material, but Flea said there is plenty of work still to be done.
"We recorded a huge quantity of music," he said. "We're so in the middle of it, so it's hard to step back and look at it, but we think it's the best stuff we've ever done."
The Chili Peppers' last studio album was 2002's By The Way, but they have released a Greatest Hits compilation and live DVD in the meantime.
