WSUN (97X)/Tampa has invited Bubba the Love Sponge to appear on The Morning X with Fisher and Boy for a live interview on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 7 a.m. This will mark the first time since Bubba was fired from WXTB (98rock) on February 23, 2004, that he will have the chance to speak to the Tampa Bay radio audience about the details of his firing, his future, and the of events of the past two years.

Bubba’s contract with Clear Channel radio has restricted him from speaking on any other Tampa radio station, but his contract with Clear Channel expired on Tuesday (February 28, 2006).

"97X is giving Bubba the chance to say goodbye to his listeners, which he never got a chance to do," commented 97X Program Director Michael Sharkey. "This is radio history. We are welcoming a former direct rival to our airwaves to speak his mind."

Bubba the Love Sponge was employed at WXTB for eight years and competed with 97X for his final three years after 97X signed on in November of 2000.
