Lollapalooza has unveiled the majority of the lineup for its 2006 edition. Having been re-invented last year as a one-city festival, it returns to Chicago's Grant Park as a three-day extravaganza from August 4 to 6. As previously reported, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the headliners for the event, along with hometown heroes Kanye West and Wilco. Death Cab For Cutie return for the second year in a row. Also on board are Queens Of The Stone Age, The Flaming Lips and Jack White's new side project band, The Raconteurs. Other acts slated to perform include The Shins, Matisyahu, Ryan Adams, Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Blues Traveler, Coheed And Cambria, Dresden Dolls and many, many others. The current, complete artist list can be found at Lollapalooza.com.
Tickets are already available, and an online presale recently sold 3,000 three-day passes in just about a half hour.
Barring a later announcement, it appears that the much-rumored appearance of a reunited Smashing Pumpkins won't be taking place on their home turf.
