June 26, 2012

Staind

The first official live CD from Staind, Live From Mohegan Sun, will be released by Eagle Rock Entertainment on July 10, followed by the DVD and Blu-ray release on August 14. This concert was recorded and filmed in high definition at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Montville, Connecticut on November 25, 2011, and the 16-song set includes "It's Been Awhile," "Not Again," "Eyes Wide Open," "Right Here" and "So Far Away." Meanwhile, Staind will hit the road this summer as part of the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival, sharing the main stage with Shinedown and Godsmack.

Bon Iver has added seven stops to their U.S. tour in September, including two more at New York City's Radio City Music Hall, bringing Bon Iver's run at the venue to four nights from September 19-22. The group also will play Providence, Boston, Columbia, MD, Philadelphia and Cooperstown, NY.

50 Cent was hospitalized early this morning (June 26) after his SUV was rear-ended by a Mack truck on New York's Long Island Expressway. The rapper and his driver were both taken to a hospital in Queens as "the SUV almost flipped over,"  according to Thisis50.com. A source close to 50's G-Unit camp told XXLMag.com that 50 "is fine" and that he and his driver have been released from the hospital after tests were ran on both.

Selena Gomez is starting to work on a new album, and she hopes to get into the studio by year's end and release a new record in 2013. She told MTV News that the album will be "very different" and that, "I want to go for producers that probably wouldn't want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with fun. I want to work with just different styles of music." However, one thing she won't be doing is singing about her boyfriend, Justin Bieber. "It's not going to be necessarily, 'Here's my tell-all,'" Gomez told E! "It's going to be more of something that people could say, 'It could be that or it could be this or it could that.' At the end of the day I only make my music because I want it be really fun and if I could have people dance to it, relate to it, have a good time, that's all I want."

Keith Richards and Jack White recorded some tracks together back in 2009, and in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Richards addressed the possibility of those recordings being released one day. "I don't know if [Jack] ever considered that it was actually, like, master cuts," Richards said. "But at the same time if Jack wanted to do it, I'd probably say, 'Yeah.'" He also explained that the Stones will meet up in July to discuss potential plans to record new material to mark their 50th anniversary, and Richards said there's a possibility that White could produce. "We're going to talk about that in July and see," he said. "I mean, I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks."

The Flaming Lips keep revealing parts of their plan to break the record for most concerts in a 24 hour period. The Lips will play eight concerts in eight cities on June 27 and 28 with a different opening act in each city. Now they have revealed that some of those opening acts will include Jackass star Chris Pontius, Jackson Browne, Neon Trees and Karmin. The band will visit Clarksdale, MS; Oxford, MS; Jackson, MS; Hattiesburg, MS; Biloxi, MS; Baton Rouge, LA and wind up in New Orleans. The plan is for The Flaming Lips to arrive at each location just as the opening band is finishing its set, and then they'll perform a mini-set before moving on to the next location.

Former Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate has signed with InsideOut Music for a solo album. He is currently finishing production on his first InsideOut release and the album is planned to come out in fall, with details to be announced in the coming weeks. "I'm very excited to join forces with InsideOut Music," says Tate of his multi-album deal. "They are very committed to progressive music and care deeply for their artists, working together with them to bring music lovers worldwide some of the most compelling rock music available."

Van Morrison returns to Blue Note Records for a new studio album, Born To Sing: No Plan B, which will be released on October 2. Born To Sing: No Plan B was produced by Morrison and recorded in his native Belfast. "With most record companies being so corporate I am happy to be working with Don Was and the team at Blue Note," Morrison commented. "To have such a creative music person as the head of my recording label assures me that all the effort taken to write and record this new album will be rewarded with a music-based focus and marketing approach. I look forward to many recording projects with Don and Blue Note."

Track stars will "hand-off" to rock stars at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field when Eve 6 perform at TrackTown Plaza this Friday, June 29 in Eugene, OR. Following the Olympic team trials event that afternoon, Eve 6 will play a free concert at the plaza.
