Rapper Nas earns his sixth #1 album on the sales chart this week as Life Is Good debuts atop the list with 149,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Nas' previous chart-topping albums were It Was Written (1996), the collaboration set The Firm (1997; with Foxy Brown, AZ and Nature), I Am (1999), Hip-Hop Is Dead (2007) and Untitled (2008). Last week's #1 album, Zac Brown Band's Uncaged, falls to #2 this week with 78,000, and the new Kidz Bop 22 compilation bows at #3 with 64,000 sold, marking the 15th Top 10 album for the long-running series. Meanwhile, Frank Ocean's Channel Orange slips two spots to #4 this week with 54,000, and Justin Bieber's Believe sits in the #5 slot with 45,000 copies sold.
In a surprising turn of events, Phil Collins' 1998 Hits set bounces all the way up to #6 on the list with 40,000 sold after Amazon MP3 sold the set for 99-cents for one day last week. One Direction's Up All Night holds down the #7 slot with 36,000, and the soundtrack to The Dark Knight Rises makes its debut at #8 by shifting 33,000 copies. The soundtrack is the first Top 10 album from a Batman movie since 1997's Batman & Robin, reports Billboard.com, but that effort was a various artists collection, whereas the new Knight set features only Hans Zimmer's score. Rounding out the Top 10 this week is Adele's 21 at #9 with just under 33,000 sold, and Maroon5's Overexposed at #10 with 29,000.
