Jay-Z's Made In America: The Movie
August 16, 2012

Jay-Z
Jay-Z keeps rolling out more artists for his outdoor Made In America festival, which will take place in Philadelphia on September 1 and 2. Drake was recently added to the roster, which also boasts Pearl Jam, the reunited Run-DMC, Passion Pit, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Odd Future, Wale, Rita Ora, Miike Snow, Santigold, Janelle Monae, D'Angelo, Skrillex, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Gary Clark Jr., Dirty Projectors, Chris Cornell, Jill Scott, The Hives, X, DJ Shadow and Prince Royce, among others. Now, the making of the event will become a documentary film. Jay-Z and marketing executive Steve Stoute are co-producing the movie with producer Brian Grazer and director Ron Howard. The film will document the Made In America festival and all the work that went into making it a reality. It also will mark Howard's first foray into filming a music documentary.

"The festival showcases 20 pre-eminent artists that speak to the new generation," Grazer told the New York Post about the project. "I am producing the film with Steve Stoute and Jay. Ron is directing. It is going to be born through Jay-Z's perspective... how he puts the event together."

Imagine Entertainment's Michael Rosenberg also confirmed that the movie will be a combination of footage shot before, during and after the event, with no release date set as of yet, according to MTV News.

The news about the documentary comes on the heels of reports that Jay's wife, Beyoncé, also is planning a documentary feature about her life and career. B plans to star in, produce and direct her film.
