Quick Hits: Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Avril Lavigne, Neil Young, Frank Ocean, Megadeth

Nicki Minaj teased during a Q&A Twitter session with fans that she will release a new single called "The Boys" from her upcoming album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded — The Re-Up. Minaj told fans that "The Boys" will be released on iTunes this week and the video will come sometime down the road. She also confirmed that The Re-Up will be packaged as a second disc on the Roman Reloaded re-release, which she has not yet finished recording, and fans will get somewhere between five and eight new songs and at least one of them will feature Lil Wayne.

Despite touring with Justin Bieber, One Direction says that their singing pal won't be featured on their November 13 album release, Take Me Home. The 1D guys and Bieber first sparked rumors of a duet earlier this year when they tweeted about hanging out in the studio together, but 1D denied the rumor to MTV News, with Liam Payne sharing, "We actually went down to the studio to listen to some of Justin Bieber's tracks. He invited us down and we had a good listen, but there's no real collaboration or anything." However, the guys have been working with lots of other collaborators on Take Me Home, including British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. 1D will officially drop their new single, "Live While We're Young," on October 1.

Avril Lavigne's next album, which she recorded and wrote with her new fiance Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, should be out at the end of 2012 or early in 2013. In an interview with Billboard, Epic Records Chairman "L.A." Reid says Lavigne just completed the record. "She worked with Chad Kroeger, who is now her fiance, and they did a really good record," says Reid, who added the album is currently in the mixing process.

On the heels of their summer release, Americana, Neil Young & Crazy Horse will release another album, entitled Psychedelic Pill, on October 30. Produced by Young with John Hanlon and Mark Humphreys, Psychedelic Pill was recorded right after Americana and features eight tracks, plus a bonus track. Due to the lengths of many of the songs, some of which were previewed during Crazy Horse's live performances in August, Psychedelic Pill will be released as a double-CD and as a triple-LP vinyl edition. Crazy Horse will hit the road again for a North American tour beginning on October 3 in Windsor, ONT.

Frank Ocean revealed on Twitter that John Mayer will perform with him on this weekend's season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Mayer played on Ocean's song "White" on the R&B singer's critically acclaimed new album Channel Ocean.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Countdown To Extinction, Megadeth will offer a two-disc reissue of the album, as well as a North American tour where they’ll perform it in its entirety.
The reissue will be available digitally and in a two-CD lift-top box set, and it includes a remastered version of the album plus a concert recording of their 1992 show at San Francisco's Cow Palace. The Countdown tour kicks off in Providence, RI on November 9 and wraps in Pomona, CA on December 7.
