JT Batson is appointed Chief Revenue Officer for Cumulus Media. Batson will have oversight of sales strategy and sales operations for the company's broadcast, digital, commerce, event and publishing activities, including owned-and-operated radio stations, the 4,500-station Cumulus Media Network and local commerce platform Sweetjack.

CHR WWYL/Binghamton PD Matt "Matty J" Johnson leaves the radio business after 19 years. Johnson will be moving to Brooklyn, where his wife is now a fulltime TV reporter.

Modern Rock CIMX (89X)/Detroit-Windsor has parted ways with its morning team of Dave Hunter, Chuck Urquhart and Lisa Reid, as the trio have accepted an offer from another station, which is yet to be announced. Hunter also served as PD of 89X. Promotion Director and midday host Cal Cagno will serve as the station's interim PD. The trio is expected to serve a six month non-compete before debuting at their new home in 2013.

In addition to online Modern Rocker RadioBDC's recent addition of specialty programming, the station has also added five new weekend/part-time hosts: Christine Hayden, Jenny Tyrrell, Jason Layne, Alaina Riccardi, TJ Connelly and Priest.

CBS Sports Radio announces it will launch on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 with an exciting triumvirate of media veterans as hosts of morning drive. Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney and Dana Jacobson will anchor the program live from the brand new radio network’s New York City studio in Tribeca. The program will be broadcast weekdays from 6-9 a.m.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet has officially set this Wednesday, November 28 for a hearing to discuss music licensing and the Internet Radio Fairness Act. Billboard.biz reports that representatives from Pandora, a terrestrial broadcaster (possibly Clear Channel) and SoundExchange, as well as at least one musician, to testify at the hearing and answer the committee's questions.

Arbitron has released its latest update to clients on the effects on Hurricane Sandy on recent ratings. The company has reviewed In-Tab and other performance metrics for Week 1 of the December PPM report period (November 8-November 14) and has determined that these metrics support the release of Week 1 Weeklies data. Arbitron will therefore be releasing PPM Weeklies data for December Week 1 for all markets as scheduled. Week 1 will also be included in all PPM December 2012 monthly reports.

FMQB offers condolences to the family and friends of former Active Rock KMOD/Tulsa morning co-host Phil Stone who passed away last week at the age of 57. For almost 27 years, Stone had been teamed with Brent Douglas on KMOD's The Morning Zoo, until he exited in September.

FMQB was saddened to hear of the passing of pioneering music agent Frank Barsalona who died early last Thursday (11/22) after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 74. Barsalona, whose Premier Talent agency changed the concert business, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Steven Van Zandt in 2005
