February 26, 2013

In a new interview, Justin Timberlake revealed that he has recorded music with Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons. Speaking to Capital FM in the UK, Timberlake said that he and Mumford collaborated on the soundtrack to the upcoming Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. JT appears in the film, along with Mumford's wife, actress Carey Mulligan. Timberlake said, "Marcus and myself we all kind of worked on the music together and I don't know any other world where we would have the opportunity to collaborate like that but it was so much fun. So not only will that be a great movie, but the music to it will be fantastic."

Green Day has announced a trio of intimate club dates taking place on March 10 in Pomona, CA, March 11 in Tempe, AZ and March 13 in El Paso, TX, ahead of the re-launch of their arena tour, which was postponed after Billie Joe Armstrong checked himself into rehab last year. The band also confirmed yesterday that they'll appear at next month's SXSW festival in Austin, TX, where they'll screen their ¡Cuatro! documentary and premiere a new doc, Broadway Idiot. They've also booked a performance in Austin on March 15 at the Moody Theater. Green Day's rescheduled arena tour will kick off on March 28 at the in Rosemont, IL, and run until April 18 in Los Angeles.

At a show in Paris this week, Kanye West told the crowd that he's been working on new material and will be "back in about a couple of months." Presumably, West is talking about a new solo album, since he most recently released collaborations with Jay-Z (Watch the Throne) and his G.O.O.D. Music crew (Cruel Summer). Producer/collaborator The-Dream also mentioned while backstage at the Grammys that West has been working on his next album in Paris. The rapper is scheduled to headline NYC's Governors Ball Music Festival in June.

David Bowie has unveiled a video to accompany his new single, "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)." The clip features actress Tilda Swinton, and the song comes from Bowie's new album, The Next Day, which is due on March 12. Check out the video below:

Janet Jackson is pretty adept at living her life on the sly, and on Monday, she admitted that she married her Qatari businessman boyfriend, Wissam Al Mana, last year. The admission came in order to squash media reports about an upcoming wedding. "The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony," Jackson and Al Mana said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. "Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities."

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are set to perform at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, TX on March 14, coinciding with the SXSW music festival. Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ will also perform at the Woodies Festival, along with Alt-J and singer/songwriter Jake Bugg. The ninth annual mtvU Woodie Awards will celebrate the indie tradition of giving a wooden record to up-and-coming artists who generate a passionate response to their music.

Alt-J has set up additional tour dates along their spring tour of the United States and Canada, as well as the first leg of dates for their autumn headlining tour. The band has added spring shows in multiple markets, including San Diego, Sacramento, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Indianapolis. The fall tour is set to run from August 29 in Oakland to September 29 in Dallas, with more dates to be added.

Former Allman Brothers guitarist "Dangerous" Dan Toler died on Monday at his home in Sarasota, FL after a long battle against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Toler was known in the late 1970s for his guitar work as a member of Dickey Betts & Great Southern band. He later become a member of The Allman Brothers Band in 1979, and played with the Gregg Allman Band in the 1980s.
