The Mumford & Sons album Babel remains at #1 on the sales chart for a fifth non-consecutive week, selling another 63,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScanBabel marks the longest run at #1 for an album by a duo or group since 2004. That year, OutKast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below wrapped a seven-week non-consecutive run at the top. The last group to reign for more than five weeks at #1 was Creed with Weathered in late 2001 and early 2002. The album tallied eight consecutive frames at #1, according to Billboard.com. The rest of this week's Top 5 is filled out by Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox at #2 with 48,000, Josh Groban's All That Echoes at #3 with 41,000, the Now 45 compilation at #4 with 38,000, and The Lumineers' self-titled album at #5 with 35,000.

Stone Temple Pilots
The latest dramatic turn in the career of Stone Temple Pilots finds the band firing its frontman Scott Weiland. A one-sentence announcement was released by STP's publicist this morning, simply stating "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland." Weiland recently announced a solo tour, during which he planned to play the entirety of STP's first two albums, Core and Purple. Oddly, Weiland just spoke to Rolling Stone yesterday about rumors he had been fired from the band, and told the magazine, "STP has not broken up. I haven't quit. I haven't been fired."
This afternoon, Weiland released an official statement, saying, "I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday." STP reunited in 2008 after five years apart, released a self-titled album in 2010 and have toured extensively in recent years.

After touring the world last year promoting Push And Shove, No Doubt is back in the studio working on a new album. The band posted on a message on their website explaining that they became inspired to write while on tour. "In December, around the time of our hometown shows, we discussed the idea of starting 2013 by getting back into the studio together," reads a post on nodoubt.com. "We did so in January and the new music started flowing with unexpected ease. After spending three years recording the last album, this new pace feels incredibly exciting. We have decided to follow our muse for the time being and focus on this new music that we don't want to stop. So, we will be postponing our tour plans briefly while we endeavor to create something special and inspired. Our goal as a band is to share this new music with you as quickly as possible - both recorded and live on tour."

Starting on May 24, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland will host a retrospective exhibit called Rolling Stones: 50 Years of Satisfaction, including personal items that have never been seen before by the public. The two-and-a-half-floor exhibit will be open until March 2014. "The Rolling Stones are the epitome of rock & roll," said Hall of Fame President and CEO Greg Harris. "This first-ever exhibit gives us an opportunity to tell the story of one of the definitive rock & roll bands. The experience should be on every music fan's destination list this summer."

Rockers Stone Sour have announced a month long tour in April, supporting their two-part House Of Gold & Bones series of releases. The trek starts April 2 in Portland, ME and runs up to April 27 in Jacksonville, FL. Stone Sour will also perform at Rock On The Range on May 18.

The first live dates for Nine Inch Nails' reunion have been revealed, as Consequence Of Sound reports Trent Reznor & co. will be a part of the Fuji Rock Festival in late July in Japan. NIN will also play the Rock 'n' Heim Festival in Germany this August.

The first-ever Boston Calling festival will be held for two days over Memorial Day weekend, and it will feature headliners fun. and The National. The festival will happen on May 25 and 26 at Boston's City Hall Plaza. Other artists on the bill include The Shins, Of Monsters and Men, Marina and the Diamonds, Matt & Kim and The Dirty Projectors.

Selena Gomez will headline the Radio Disney Music Awards on April 27 in Los Angeles. Bridgit Mendler, Cody Simpson, Austin Mahone and Coco Jones are all scheduled to perform at the event as well.

Metal greats Megadeth will release their 14th studio album, Super Collider, in June. The new record is due out on frontman Dave Mustane's own Tradecraft, through Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). "It was a real thrill for us to learn there was an opportunity to join Universal," says Mustaine. "It seems like every time you see a great band or music video, it comes from a Universal label. Being with Universal is by far the most exciting and prestigious home for Megadeth ever! We are electrified with what the future holds and the possibilities such a powerhouse like Universal will bring for us all. We have worked with some great people over the years, and it is amazing to see so many of them on the Universal team for our new record, Super Collider. If Megadeth being here isn’t satiating enough, having Tradecraft as my own label is going to be really amazing for metal bands around the world."

R&B singer and American Idol alum Fantasia will release her fourth album, Side Effects Of You, on April 23 via 19 Recordings/RCA. "Side Effects Of You reflects a body of work that I call ‘Rock Soul,’ where I’m exploring a new and refreshing sound that reflects my vocal versatility and appreciation for international appeal," says Fantasia. "I wrote a great deal of the new songs alongside some great producers and songwriters and 19/RCA has allowed me to artistically express myself the way I've wanted to for years. I hope everyone will enjoy this project and experience the ROCK SOUL NATION AND JOIN THE MOVEMENT!"
