Clear Channel and Cumulus have worked out a complex swap of stations, where CC's Ann Arbor, MI and Battle Creek, MI clusters are being traded for Cumulus' Canton, OH stations. Clear Channel owns four stations in each of the Michigan cities. Sources tell FMQB an LMA is set for Friday, September 1.
Yesterday, Tower Records announced it was being put up for sale via Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Now it appears that the most likely bidder will be Trans World Entertainment, making the company the last music retail giant standing. Variety reports Trans World (which owns Sam Goody, FYE and others) would assume Tower's $90 million debt but not actually pay anything for its 89 stores around the country.

Live Nation has sold off SFX Television and SFX Events to private equity firm Blue Equity, LLC. The same company purchased SFX Tennis last month. Other SFX sports divisions have been sold off this summer. “The sale of these SFX sports divisions is in line with our strategy to focus on our core businesses of live music concerts, venue management and website brand development,” said Live Nation President/CEO Michael Rapino.
XM's college football coverage begins next Monday, August 28. Subscribers will now be able to customize the sports tickers on their radios to their specific teams. XM adds the Big East conference to its coverage this season as well.
