Coldplay Holds Steady At #1
June 4, 2014

Coldplay's Ghost Stories holds for a second week at #1 on the sales chart, moving another 83,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last week the album launched at #1 with 383,000 sold, scoring the biggest sales frame for an album this year. Brantley Gilbert's Just As I Am also stays steady in the #2 slot with 65,000. Those two albums managed to stave off Mariah Carey, who bows at #3 with Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, selling 58,000. This marks Carey's 17th Top 10 album, although it is her smallest opening for a non-holiday album since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Carey has tallied six #1 albums between the years of 1991 and 2008, notes Billboard.

Meanwhile, the soundtrack to Frozen remains at #4 with just over 58,000 sold. Austin Mahone's debut EP, The Secret, starts out at #5 with 46,000. Fans may see Mahone on the chart again later in 2014, as the singer is aiming to release a full-length album by the end of the year. The Now 50 compilation is #6 this week with 41,000, Michael Jackson's Xscape is #7 with 35,000, and The Black Keys' Turn Blue sits at #8 with 32,000.

Finally, the new Crowder album, Neon Steeple, debuts at #9 with 22,000 sold. The album is the first solo release from David Crowder, who previously fronted The David Crowder Band. Female rapper Iggy Azalea rounds out the Top 10 with The New Classic, shifting another 18,000 copies this week.
