Nelly Furtado

A special concert with Nelly Furtado will be broadcast online by AOL Music Live! this Friday, December 8 at 9 p.m. PST. The show will take place at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood and air live, then be available on-demand afterwards. “Nelly Furtado is an AOL favorite who has had a spectacular year," said Jack Isquith, Executive Producer of AOL Music Live! "This broadcast only furthers our commitment to live music, and we are thrilled to be able to bring her fans around the world her live concert from Hollywood."

Robert Smith says he has given himself a deadline to finish writing lyrics for The Cure's next studio record. "I want [the words] to mean something, it's not enough that they rhyme," Smith told Reuters. "I find myself stopping short and thinking, 'I've done this before, and better.'" The release date for the band's 14th studio album is tentatively set for May, with tour dates beginning in March. Smith also discussed the Cure's current lineup, which is a four-piece now with the defection of keyboardist Roger O'Donnell and the return of guitarist Porl Thompson. "There's no need for keyboards when you have Porl playing guitar," Smith said. "He can pretty much create any sound you want. He's brought back a sense of urgency and we've got a rock edge again."

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube will team for a 10-date tour of Canada in January. The trek starts on January 12 in Victoria, with Snoop promoting his current album The Blue Carpet Treatment and Ice Cube supporting his most recent release, Laugh Now, Cry Later. The West Coast Rap tour ends in Winnipeg on January 23.

Performances from Jay-Z's Hangar Tour - when he played seven concerts in seven cities in one day - will be available to Cingular customers this month in the form of ringtones, answer tones and mobile video. The video content will include live performances and backstage footage, while the ringtones will include songs that Jay played in his set like "Kingdom Come," "Show Me What You Got," "Give It To Me" and "Jigga What."

U2 is releasing a limited edition, double live album entitled Zoo2live, but it is only available to members of the Irish band's fan club. The album features 24 songs recorded during the legendary ZOO TV tour in the early '90s and includes a double-sided poster from their 1993 gig in Sydney, Australia.

Linkin Park

Each year, Linkin Park releases a special CD, LP Underground, exclusively for its fan club members. This year, the latest edition, LPU6, will also be available in Best Buy stores, as well as online at the Web site LPUnderground.com. The six-track EP features two songs from the band's current studio session for their upcoming album and some unreleased live tracks. "Over the last year we have written so many new songs and really wanted to give some of the early ideas to our hardcore fans that will not be on the new album," said LP's Rob Bourdon. "Other tracks include a live version of an old track from back when our band was called XERO, and some special live tracks we played at the Japan shows this past August."

Jason Mraz will offer fans a digital-only release, Selections For Friends, that will be be available exclusively via his Web site starting December 12. It will include 13 songs recorded live during July's Songs For Friends tour, when Mraz played new songs, classic favorites and rarely played material from his early coffee shop days.

Sevendust will release their sixth full-length album, Alpha, on March 6. The band's own label, 7Bros. Records, also has announced a partnership with Asylum Records, part of Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group, to distribute and market the album. Sevendust will embark on a 57-date headlining tour beginning on February 8 and ending on April 28, 2007.
