Boston frontman Brad Delp passed away late last week at the age of 55. The singer was found dead in his New Hampshire home late Friday. Local police said that Delp was alone and there was no sign of any foul play.
Delp's recognizable voice was heard on Classic Rock radio staples such as "More Than A Feeling," which propelled the band to stardom in the 1970s. Their self-titled 1976 debut album is one of the biggest selling records of all time, having sold 17 million copies. Delp left the band in 1991, but returned to sing on a pair of new tracks for a 1997 greatest hits set.
A statement from guitarist Tom Scholz on the group's official Web site reads, "As you all know by now, Boston's lead singer, Brad Delp, was found dead in his home on Friday, March 9, 2007. Plans for live Boston performances this summer have, of course, been cancelled. My heart goes out to his wonderful fiance Pamela, his two children and other family members, his close friends and band mates, and to the millions of people whose lives were made a little brighter by the sound of his voice. He will be dearly missed."
