The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has released its April tally of Gold and Platinum certifications, and Lloyd and Weird Al Yankovic are the latest artists to receive Gold plaques for their new albums. Lloyd's sophomore effort, Street Love, surpassed the 500,000 sales mark, as did Weird Al's Straight Outta Lynwood. This marks Yankovic's 10th Gold record overall.
Also in April, Beyoncé continues to celebrate her B’Day, as the album crossed the three million mark to go Triple Platinum. Mary J. Blige also received her sixth multi-Platinum award for the seventh album of her career, The Breakthrough. With this Triple Platinum certification, Blige has sold more than 18 million albums.
The Fray received their first Multi-Platinum Digital Single award for “How to Save a Life,” certifying it Double Platinum for more than 2 million units sold. Bow Wow's "Shortie Like Mine" and Omarion's "Ice Box" also earned awards from the RIAA, as both singles went Gold.
