Will Janet Jackson be getting a bill for $550,000 in her mailbox sometime soon? The New York Post's Page Six gossip column suggests that Viacom is considering making the singer foot the bill for their hefty "Nipplegate" FCC fine. The Post's source says, "CBS is playing with the idea. Nobody over there believes the 'wardrobe malfunction' was an accident and they think that by sending her the bill they would be making a strong statement that the onus for [appropriate dress and behavior] is on the people supplying the content."
The source adds that making Jackson pay the fine probably won't happen, but the idea has been discussed by the higher-up's at Viacom. However, passing the buck along from the company to the individual involved is a new potential twist in the ongoing "indecency" saga.
