The negotiations continue between SoundExchange and the Digital Media Association (DiMA) over Web radio royalties. Digital Music News reports that DiMA has rejected the latest offer, due to excessive additional requirements. DiMA Executive Director Jonathan Potter said in a letter to SoundExchange, "We are disappointed that SoundExchange has reverted back to making unrelated and unworkable demands as a condition for resolving the minimum fee issue."
The "unworkable demands" in question relate to requirements from SoundExchange over prevention of the recording of streams. Potter called these demands "way off-topic" and added that SoundExchange is trying "to leverage this absurd fee to impose mandates that they have unsuccessfully sought elsewhere."
Negotiations are still ongoing between the two sides.
