Quick Hits: Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Mariah Carey, Finger Eleven, Cake, Swervedriver
October 19, 2007

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was arrested in Norway yesterday, along with her husband and a third person, for possession of marijuana. Winehouse and company were arrested in their hotel room and held overnight by the police. Reuters reports the three were released this morning after paying a fine.

Another film project based on the life of Kurt Cobain is in the works, as Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to the 2001 biography Heavier Than Heaven. Cobain's widow Courtney Love will serve as an executive producer on the movie. David Benioff (Troy, 25th Hour) will write the picture.

MTV News reports that Mariah Carey's anticipated follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi has been delayed from December 4 to sometime in 2008. A label representative tells MTV that Carey is still recording new material.

Finger Eleven guitarist James Black writes on the band's MySpace page that the band is working on a career spanning DVD/CD set, that will include live footage, demos, unreleased songs and more. Black says he is currently overseeing much of the art for the project.

Cake will bring back their "Unlimited Sunshine" festival tour this fall, beginning in San Diego on November 29, with dates announced through December 14 in Rochester, NY, including a two-night stand in New York City.

U.K. guitar rockers Swervedriver have announced a 2008 reunion for their first tour in almost a decade. Singer Adam Franklin is currently touring behind his solo release, Bolts Of Melody.
