HD Radio continues to grow and gain acceptance, as new data from iBiquity revealed that sales of the receivers jumped by over 700 percent from 2006 to 2007. iBiquity President Bob Struble told the NAB Board of Directors that over 330,000 HD Radio receivers were sold in 2007, as compared to 40,000 in 2006. Struble called it a "breakthrough year" for the technology.
Additionally, the NAB's radio board voted to pressure the FCC to boost the power of FM HD Radio broadcasts. And Caroline Beasley, chair of the HD Radio Technology Advancement Task Force, briefly the NAB board on their efforts to increase HD Radio awareness among automakers.
