Quick Hits: Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, Velvet Revolver, Coldplay, Nelly, Pixies, Backstreet Boys, Edwyn Collins, Kaiser Chiefs
February 24, 2005

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has revealed who will be inducting which artists at this year's ceremony. Bruce Springsteen will induct U2 as a payback to Bono, who inducted The Boss in 1999. Justin Timberlake will introduce R&B group The O'Jays. Blues brothers B.B. King and Eric Clapton will intro Buddy Guy, Rod Stewart will induct Percy Sledge, and The Pretenders will be inducted by Neil Young. The Hall Of Fame ceremony will be held Monday, March 14 in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria.

Velvet Revolver will kick off their next North American tour, dubbed the Electric Wonderland Show, on March 22 in Montreal. The trek, which is currently set to last two months, visits seven Canadian cities before crossing the States. Hoobastank have been tapped to open the West Coast leg of the tour.

Coldplay sent out an announcement to the band's e-mail list today, warning that the band would be making "a few important announcements" next week, starting Monday. Could we be getting details about the band's long-awaited third record?

MTV.com reports Nelly will take Fat Joe and Fabolous along on a major spring tour of theaters beginning in late March and continuing into May. Nelly has already lined up a handful of college gigs throughout March.

Could the reunited Pixies be hitting the road once again later this year? The band's agent, Marc Geiger, told Billboard, "We're looking at playing two shows in one night in the same market, with combination tickets. The first show would be a set of rare songs and B-sides, and the second would be the hits." Geiger also said there could be a Pixies tour of amphitheaters in July.

The Backstreet Boys will release their new single to radio on March 18, but have not decided between "Incomplete," "I Still" and "Weird World." BSB Nick Carter told MTV News, "Whatever it is, it's going to shock you."

U.K. singer Edwyn Collins, best known in the States for his late '90s hit "A Girl Like You," has been hospitalized after suffering a brain hemmorrhage, reports the NME.

Up-and-coming Brit act Kaiser Chiefs will drop their debut, Employment, in the U.S. on March 15. The band has a brief American tour lined up as well, starting March 13 in Seattle and ending in Boston on March 26, according to MTV.com.
