Extraordinary New Fiona Apple Songs Leak On The End
March 1, 2005

Singer/songwriter Fiona Apple's long-awaited third album, Extraordinary Machine, has been in the can for months, with an online fan petition asking Sony to release the record. Now, KNDD/Seattle's Andrew Harms may have helped speed up the process, by playing a handful of leaked songs from the record this past weekend on his New Music Show. Harms told MTV, "It's not something that happens every day with a multiplatinum artist. With major labels, it happens to their smaller artists all the time, but with an established [artist] like Fiona, to have that happen is pretty crazy, so to stumble upon a full-length copy of the record was incredible."

Since then, low-quality copies of the songs, along with two others that had previously leaked, have surfaced online. The saga of Extraordinary Machine has been ongoing for quite a while, with fans campaigning to Sony in various ways to release the album. Producer Jon Brion told MTV News in January, "The record company wants 'Criminal' junior and Fiona doesn't offer that up...It's just not the obvious easy sell to them." Extraordinary Machine was completed back in May of 2003.

Apple's last album, When The Pawn..., was released in the fall of 1999.
