WRXP/New York has announced Matt Pinfield as its new morning show host, starting May 28. Pinfield will be on the air at 101.9 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

"Rock radio has been reborn in New York City with 101.9 RXP and I'm proud and excited to be a part of it," commented Pinfield. "This is a station that is truly about the music and furthering the New York rock scene which is something that I care deeply about."

"101.9 RXP merges New Music, Classic Rock, Alternative and Local Rock into a new adult blend called 'The New York Rock Experience' and Matt is the perfect representative to navigate that experience for our listeners," said Emmis New York Market Manager Dan Halyburton. "Our on-air personalities play a direct part in choosing the music we play, and I couldn't think of a more perfect person than Matt to be at the helm of this on-air team."

Emmis VP of Programming Jimmy Steal added, "Matt is a kindred spirit in the rock world and a perfect match for the culture and authenticity at 101.9 RXP. Matt started his career in radio and his rock passion has always embraced all elements of the genre - so this addition is not only a perfect fit for 101.9 RXP, it is also a homecoming for Matt and his core passions."

In related news, Pinfield is being recognized this week by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his extensive rock knowledge and iconic status that was established as host of MTV programs such as 120 Minutes, MattRock, Pinfield Suite, Pinfield presents, Rocks Off, Say What, MTV Live and other MTV specials.
