Green Day's epic song, "Jesus Of Suburbia," from their Grammy-winning American Idiot album, will be used in a new series of promotional ads for the Independent Film Channel (IFC). The channel plans to incorporate Green Day's music into promotional campaigns throughout the year. Speaking of Green Day and cable networks, their VH1 Storytellers episode will debut on April 3.Coldplay has added five more European dates to their summer tour. The band will play three gigs in Germany on June 15, 17 and 19, and return to the country once again on July 9. They will also play the Netherlands on July 7. Coldplay's still-untitled third record is expected to be released in June.
Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz will be movin' on up this Thursday night when they cross paths with Donald Trump. The King of Crunk will appear on Trump's hit NBC series The Apprentice as contestants take meetings with various music artists. In addition to Lil Jon, Barenaked Ladies, Moby, Eve and Gene Simmons will appear.
British Rockers Muse will headline the ninth annual MTV Campus Invasion tour. The 20-date tour will kick off April 8 at Florida Atlantic University. Fellow U.K. band Razorlight will open the trek.
Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age has posted a new message on the band's official Web site, thanking fans for their support during his recent illness. Homme writes, "I’d like to say thank you to all well wishers. Your words and thoughts were printed out for me to read and you know what, it mean a lot to me. It was just cool to see sweet things instead of bottles of meds that were not meant for recreation."
The Mars Volta will launch a North American tour behind their new album, Frances The Mute, starting April 22 in San Diego. It will wrap up on May 19 in Minneapolis.
Robert Plant will sit down for an interview with Sirius satellite radio's Carol Miller this weekend to discuss his new album Mighty Rearranger. It can be heard on The Spectrum (channel 18) on Sunday and Monday at noon (ET) and Classic Vinyl (channel 14) at 9pm on Monday night.
The New Orleans Superfly During JazzFest concert series has been announced for April 21 to 30 throughout the city. Taking part in the ninth annual event will be Wilco, Nellie McKay, Les Claypool and the previously mentioned Mars Volta, among others.
