Ozzy Osbourne plans to write and record a new solo album for release in early 2006. However, the F'ing Prince of Darkness has no plans to record a reunion album with his Black Sabbath bandmates. "I could go in the studio and write a bunch of stuff, but why do an album just for the sake of [drummer] Bill [Ward], [guitarist] Tony [Iommi], me and bassist [Geezer] Butler together playing if it's not up to the Black Sabbath standard that I left?," Ozzy tells Billboard.com. "It's so sad when you hear these monumental bands do these piece of shit records just because they want the money." Sabbath will tour as part of this year's edition of the Ozzfest, which kicks off in Boston on July 15.My Chemical Romance has recorded a cover of the Queen & David Bowie classic "Under Pressure," along with The Used, which they will offer as a charity single benefiting tsunami relief. "It sounds awesome, and now it's just a matter of getting it ready," MCR singer Gerard Way told MTV News. "We've played it live [on the Taste of Chaos tour], just to make people aware of it, and when it becomes available, all the proceeds are going to charity." The band will stay busy the rest of the year, opening up for Green Day and then joining the Vans Warped Tour.
Former Faith No More keyboard player Roddy Bottum knew that for his newest musical project, all you need is love... Courtney Love that is. The oft-troubled singer performs on the song "Love Love Love" (what else?) on the soundtrack to the film Adam And Steve. Bottum told Billboard, "I feel like her voice is so recognizable in that specific way. She's pretty genius at fucking with convention. The politics and the message of the film are a lot about that." Oddly enough, Love was a member of Faith No More for a very brief time almost 20 years ago.
Fans of Slash's wardrobe can rest easy, now that his trademark top hat has been returned to the Velvet Revolver guitarist. The hat disappeared from his limo at the Grammy Awards last month. Even Slash admits the fuss over his missing item was a bit much. "All things considered," he said, "it was such a blown out of proportion, wacky scenario. I'm still getting reports from all over the world that someone's got the hat."
Offbeat piano-pop singer Nellie McKay will re-release her critically acclaimed debut album, Get Away From Me, as a DualDisc. The DVD side will include concert footage filmed in San Francisco last Novemeber and two brand-new songs. Additionally, MTV.com reports that McKay will join the cast of The Threepenny Opera on Broadway next year, alongside actors Alan Cumming and Edie Falco.
