Leah Maravich has been named the new night jock at Qantum Top 40 WWXM (Mix 97.7)/Myrtle Beach. She won the station's "Hire Me Mix" contest. She was one of three finalists who auditioned on-air and were voted on by listeners. Maarten Steinkamp, President of Continental Europe for Sony BMG exits the company.
Clear Channel AC WLTW/New York kicks of the 106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2008 series on Thursday July 10 at 12:30 p.m. on the Bryant Park Stage. This free lunchtime series, now in its seventh year, takes place over six consecutive Thursdays (July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14), features live performances from the hottest on and off-Broadway shows and is hosted by WLTW air personalities. After signing a deal with SpiralFrog this week, now EMI inks an agreement with ad-supported QTrax for streaming or downloading by members of the service. While QTrax includes P2P downloading, this aspect is apparently not covered by the deal with EMI. "This is a revolutionary time for the music industry," stated QTrax founder/Chairman Allan Klepfisz. "Guy Hands and EMI Music have demonstrated great vision and leadership and we couldn't be more thrilled to have their support. Music fans will soon be able to legally download tracks from EMI's rich, storied catalogue, giving them access to one of the world's largest repertoires of music."Universal Music Group (UMG) signs a deal with music and memorabilia site Wolfgang's Vault for rare live performances from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley and many others. The bootlegs are currently available digitally, but Billboard reports that some could see release on vinyl or on CD down the road. ESPN will launch its ESPN HD Radio network this Saturday, June 7. ESPN Radio affiliates will also be able to customize their local HD side channel content from ESPN. The network kicks off with the UEFA Euro 2008 soccer tournament coverage.
