As everyone knows, the new Foo Fighters album In Your Honor is a double-CD set, with one disc of louder rock songs and one disc of quieter songs. However, frontman Dave Grohl has revealed that the band set out to create the definitive Foo record. At an album listening preview for the press, a videotaped interview with Grohl was played, where he laid out the band's plans heading into the creation of In Your Honor.According to MTV.com, in the pre-taped interview, Grohl discussed how he was originally uncertain of the future of the Foos, after a decade as a band. Then he began listening to the new songs they'd written and set the bar high for the completed record. "When someone comes up to you and asks which Led Zeppelin album they should buy, you should say Physical Graffiti," he said. "And, in 20 years, when your kid comes up to you and asks which Foo Fighters album he or she should buy, I want you to say In Your Honor."
Five songs were previewed from In Your Honor, including the massive title track, first single "Best Of You," which MTV.com compares to their 1997 hit "Everlong" and the ballad "Resolve." Brazilian-influenced "Virginia Moon" features the buzzed-about guest vocals from Norah Jones and another ballad, "Miracle," includes Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on piano.
In Your Honor is out on June 14 on Roswell/RCA Records.
