Nate Albert has been appointed VP of A&R for Universal Republic Records. "Nate brings a world of depth and experience to Universal Republic as a multi-platinum artist, manager, and as a widely respected purveyor of talent," stated Tom Mackay, SVP of A&R for Universal Republic Records. "To be able to mine his accomplishments and insight in an everyday capacity will not only strengthen our roster, but help us bridge the artistic and strategic missions of artists who will benefit greatly from his own hands-on experience. Nate has already been instrumental in helping sign and develop artists Anberlin and Erin McCarley. I know I speak for everyone in the Universal Republic family in welcoming Nate to the label." In his new role, Albert will report to Mackay."Monte Lipman, Avery Lipman and Tom Mackay have forged one of the deepest creative rosters in our business," added Albert. "I’m thrilled to be afforded the opportunity to contribute to an environment where artists really do come first. I look forward to a great working relationship with the entire Universal Republic team."
Albert was a founding member and guitarist of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. After leaving the band in 2000, he pursued a degree, graduating from Brown University with Honors in Political Theory in 2001. In recent years, Albert has branched out as a producer (The Street Dogs, The Explosion), artist manager and A&R consultant, having previously served in a consulting capacity for Universal Republic Records.
