Veteran programmer Bob Buchmann has announced he will step down from his post as PD of WAQX (Q104)/New York when his contract is up in August. Buchmann's last day will be August 12. Programming at Q104 will be overseen by Clear Channel-NY SVP of Programming Tom Poleman and APD Eric Wellman. Buchmann told his staff that with Q104 currently #1 among Adult Males and just shy of #1 for Adults 25-54, "I think of what NY Giant Michael Strahan chose to do after winning the Super Bowl ring. There's nothing like going out on top, so I've decided to step back and take a deep breath."

 

Kevin Metheny exits Clear Channel-Cleveland, where he had been VP of Programming.

 

Warner/Chappell Music names veteran music publishing executive Scott Francis to the newly created President of Warner/Chappell Music and Chairman/CEO of Warner/Chappell Music U.S. post. Francis previously served as President of BMG Music Publishing’s BMG Songs-North America.

 

Rob Stevenson is named President of Virgin Records U.S. by EMI President of A&R/North America Nick Gatfield. Stevenson begins his new position on August 15 and will be based in New York. He had previously been EVP of A&R for Island Def Jam.

 

Lance Ballance resigns from the PD/afternoon throne at Hot AC WMC/Memphis effective August 1. Balance had been with the station for three and half years.

 

Cox Radio saw its Q2 revenue drop by 8.3 percent to $108.2 million. Local revenue declined 6.1 percent, with national revenue off by 17.5 percent. Income dropped from a $20.3 million gain to a loss of $75.4 million for the quarter. However, the loss was impacted by a $147.6 million non-cash imparement charge.

Dan Pelson is named CEO at online social network uPlayMe. Pelson was most recently SVP/Global Consumer Marketing at Warner Music Group.

Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network (CCTTN) will power real-time traffic information for ASUS portable navigation devices. The new ASUS R700 includes a built-in subscription for CCTTN data.

iBiquity and In Car Experts announce a strategic marketing alliance, focusing on the consumer experience and making sure ICE sales associates are fully knowledgeable of HD Radio.

NPR Music will broadcast live from the Newport Folk Festival and JVC Jazz Festival Newport in August. NPR will team with WFUV/New York and WBGO/Newark, NJ for the broadcasts, which will include radio specials from the festivals that will air on NPR member stations around the country.
