Coldplay

Coldplay have been on the road performing smaller gigs, gearing up for the band's massive world tour later this year. They will announce their full U.S. tour plans early next week, as well as perform two free shows in New York City. On Monday, the band will play a secret location for an MTV listening party, and on Tuesday they will record an AOL Music Live performance at the Beacon Theater. Also, the band will be the musical guest on the season finale of Saturday Night Live on May 21. That night's host is also no stranger to singing (or to SNL). Lindsay Lohan will host for her second time in two seasons.

Mariah Carey will release a remix of "We Belong Together," which features appearances from Jadakiss and Styles P. The remix will be available exclusively through iTunes starting next Tuesday, May 17. Mariah will perform the song on the Ellen DeGeneres Show tomorrow, May 13.

Though they're known for their humorous videos, the Foo Fighters are currently shooting the clip for "Best Of You" with director Mark Pellington, best known for the classic video for Pearl Jam's "Jeremy." Pellington describes the video to MTV.com, saying it will "be fast, colorful, aggressive and intense. It's a performance intercut with collages of images that are real and hyper-real, intense and idealistic. Essentially the band's energy drives the video, and viewers will feel like they're watching it with eyes closed, thinking about the past, present and future." The Foos' double album, In Your Honor, lands in stores on June 14.

Dashboard Confessional is currently in the studio with legendary producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan). Chris Carrabba and company are expected to release their next album this October. Dashboard Confessional will play Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 23-24.

Anthony Fedorov became the latest American Idol finalist ousted from the hit Fox series, leaving only three contestants remaining: Bo Bice, Carrie Underwood and Vonzell Solomon.

A monument dedicated to The Beach Boys will be unveiled in Brian Wilson's hometown of Hawthorne, CA on May 20. According to Rolling Stone, Wilson himself will perform at the dedication, as will former members Al Jardine and David Marks.

On Halloween this fall, Slipknot fans around the country will be able to dress as their favorite member of the masked Metal band. MTV reports that the band has signed a deal with Morbid Industries to create replicas of each band member's mask as well as their coveralls.

The Indigo Girls will release a rarities compilation, simply titled Rarities, on June 14. The duo will also tour throughout the summer, with 22 dates already announced, beginning June 7 in Charlotte, NC.

Singer/songwriter Pete Yorn is writing and recording his third album in Los Angeles. The currently untitled record will feature Dave Grohl playing drums on yet another album being released this year, though according to his Web site, Yorn himself plays drums on a number of tracks. Also making cameos are the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines and Emily Robison. Yorn's new album is expected to be released this fall.
