 Foo Fighters
|
For the second time in the network's history, MTV2 will allow an artist free reign over its programming for 24 hours straight. The Foo Fighters will get to do whatever they want for a day, starting at noon on Saturday, June 11. The band will pick videos, perform live, play some ping-pong, give away a date with a roadie and invite guests to drop by the studio. They are even running a contest with MTV, offering to officially marry a couple on TV... seriously! The Foos' new album, In Your Honor, lands in stores the following Tuesday, June 14.Of course, Dave Grohl is quite familiar with the last artist to take over MTV2 for a day: Courtney Love. In September of 2002, Love's "24 Hours of Love" featured the singer flashing the camera, inviting actress Molly Ringwald and members of The Strokes to visit the MTV studios and calling up R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe to chat. Love also was part of a similar promotion to officiate actual, legal weddings, around the release of her album America's Sweetheart.
In other Foo news, the band will appear on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on June 9, the same night they play the MTV Movie Awards. In Your Honor will begin streaming on both MySpace and Rhapsody beginning the following day. On June 13, the band will be in New York City for an FMQB Productions one-hour, national interview special. More information can be found here. The Foos will perform on the Howard Stern Show the morning of the album's release, and visit their old friend David Letterman that night. And as reported yesterday, the band will play a special concert in Roswell, NM on June 18.
