Starting tomorrow morning (1/8) at 6 a.m., Bubba Love The Sponge will launch his new live morning radio program on Cox Radio stations WHPT-FM/Tampa and WFYV-FM/Jacksonville after a four year absence from the terrestrial airwaves.

 

Hot AC/Triple A Hybrid KSCF (Sophie 103.7) San Diego taps Charese Fruge as its new PD.

 

Due to restructuring, Keith Abrams exits as CBS-Denver VP/Programming and CBS VP/Classic Hits Programming. Also felled by restructuring is Brooke Andrist, CBS-Denver Director/Digital Strategies. Bill Gamble, Country KWLI PD, now assumes PD responsibilities for Classic Hits KXKL.

Radio One Mainstream Top 40 WNOU (Radio Now)/Indianapolis inks Austin to do nights and be the station Imaging Director. He arrives from Cox Rhythmic Top 40 WBTS (The Beat)/Atlanta. He'll also host a show on Radio One’s local cable music channel "Indy’s Music Channel (IMC)" within the next couple of weeks.


CBS Radio Rhythmic Top 40 WMBX (X102.3)/West Palm Beach MD Preston Lowe jumps on the air handling overnights at sister station Urban AC WNEW.
 
American General Media Rhythmic Top 40 KISV (Hot 94.1) and Urban oldies KEBT (96.9 the Beat)/Bakersfield OM Eric Sean has exited to accept the PD position at Cox-owned Rhythmic Top 40 KPWT (Power 106.7)/San Antonio. He replaces Doug Bennett who is now focusing on other responsibilities within the cluster.


Radio One Urban AC WTLC-FM/Indianapolis APD/MD/midday personality “First Lady” Khris Raye has been appointed to the PD position at Gospel clustermate WTLC-AM (1310 the Light).

 

Tony Hayes exits the morning gig at AC WLYT/Charlotte after ten years.

 

Marc Young is named APD/MD of Modern Rock WKQX (Q101.1)/Chicago, effective January 28. Young was most recently at Rhythmic AC KMVA/Phoenix but has plenty of Rock experience at KEDJ/Phoenix and KTEG/Albuquerque. Young replaces Spike, who exited Q101.1 to return home to WYSP/Philadelphia for APD/midday duties in December.

Clear Channel-Columbus names Laura Lee PD of 80’s Oldies WBWR and its new Alternative outlet WRXS, which was formerly WMRN.

Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. names Rob Keegan GSM for WRDW-FM (Wired 96.5)/Philadelphia. Keegan, who replaces Jefferson Ward, is an eleven year Beasley vet and was most recently RSM as well as NTR Director/Internet Sales Manager for WPTP/WRDW and sister WXTU.

Andy Langer, who is a music columnist for Esquire Magazine and also is the music correspondent for Austin TV’s News 8, joins his hometown KGSR for night duties. Langer is one of Austin's leading experts in entertainment and music and will also emcee the Austin Music Awards at the South By Southwest music conference.

Napster announces that it will shift its downloadable catalog to DRM-free MP3 formatted songs, beginning later this year. The company also announced it would be raising its monthly subscription fee from $10 to $13/month.

 

Volvo will offer real-time traffic data from Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network (CCTTN) in the automaker's vehicles, beginning with a series of 2008 models.
