Quick Hits: No Doubt, Fall Out Boy, Rob Zombie, Bono, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
December 16, 2008

No Doubt

While No Doubt recently announced that the reunited band will tour in 2009, it doesn't look like their first new album since 2001 will be out next year. Drummer Adrian Young told MTV News that while No Doubt will be recording and touring throughout the new year, don't expect a finished album out by the end of '09. "We've been working on a new record off and on now for a bit of time, and we're going to continue to work on a new record next year," Young said. "We're going to start touring in the spring of '09 through the summer, and we're going to continue to work on music while we're traveling. [We'll have] a mobile studio on the bus and eventually get to a new No Doubt record."

Fall Out Boy attempted to celebrate the release of their new album, Folie A Deux, on Monday by playing a free outdoor show in New York City's Washington Square Park. However, the band did not obtain the proper permits to do so and the NYPD attempted to shut down the gig. According to MTV News, FOB sang an a capella version of one of their earlier tracks, then had to pack it in. "We wanted to do something free and really spontaneous in the same park where, like, Bob Dylan and all these folk singers used to perform in the '60s. You know, with the same spirit," Pete Wentz told MTV. "And that — no one was going to get hurt, it was just fans — that was supposed to be like that. But in the '60s, they used to beat up folk singers, so, you know, at least no one got punched."

Rob Zombie will reunite with his good friend Michael Myers for another Halloween film. According to Variety, Zombie will write and direct H2, a sequel to his 2007 remake of the horror classic. Production on H2 is expected to begin in March. Zombie is currently working on a new album, which is also expected out some time in 2009.

Bono was given the Nobel Man Of Peace Award in Paris on Friday, for his many, many charitable works and efforts around the globe. "This is a very big award for me, because let's be honest this is as close as I am going to get -- as close as a rock star is ever going to get to the Nobel Peace Prize," Bono said, according to Spinner. "I am an over-awarded, over-rewarded rock star. You are the people who do the real work," As reported yesterday, U2 filmed the video for the first single from their upcoming studio record in London last week.

The 40th anniversary edition of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has been announced. Slated for April 24-26 and April 30-May 3, the festival will include performances from Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, Kings Of Leon, Bonnie Raitt, Common, Spoon and many, many others.
