Quick Hits: Katy Perry, Blue October, Corey Taylor, Fall Out Boy
January 6, 2009

Over the past two years, the producers of the Grammys have featured "My Grammy Moment," which let viewers perform alongside Justin Timberlake and the Foo Fighters. For this year's "My Grammy Moment," organizers are moving the contest to the Web only. Fans will have the opportunity to sing "I Kissed A Girl" alongside Katy Perry (but not actually kiss her). Contestants can upload a short clip of themselves singing last year's smash hit to CBS.com, with online voters determining the winner, who will also receive a cash prize of $5,000. Perry describes the contest in the clip below:

Blue October has set March 24 as the release date for Approaching Normal, the follow-up to the band's breakthrough record, Foiled. Lead single "Dirt Road" arrived at radio in December and officially impacts Rock and Modern Rock radio next week. Approaching Normal was produced by the legendary Steve Lillywhite and Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld says, "Steve is my all-time favorite producer. He’s produced so many great albums for artists that are some of my biggest influences -- but especially Peter Gabriel's third album. For me, that’s it, my number one."

Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour says that his next project will be a proper solo album. Speaking to Kerrang!, Taylor said, "It's something that I'd like to do purely for myself. It's something that I need to release before I can think about moving on to anything else... In both Slipknot and Stone Sour I'm slightly limited to how I can write and indeed what I can write about. The beauty of doing a solo album is that I can write whatever type of song I want." Slipknot will kick off a headlining tour of the U.S. on January 23 in St. Paul, MN.

A live Fall Out Boy concert film will screen at movie theaters across the country on Sunday, January 18. Fall Out Boy LIVE - Folie a Deux NYC To LA will be shown in approximately 80 theaters. It was filmed at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square on December 16, to celebrate the release of their latest album. More information about screenings can be found at www.cinedigm.com.
