Filling the gap in the market left by Infinity Broadcasting's flip of WJMK to "Jack" earlier this year, ABC Radio has flipped Active Rocker WZZN/Chicago to Oldies, debuting "94.7 Chicago's True Oldies Channel" today at noon. WZZN President/GM Jim Pastor made the announcement, adding, "What will separate 'True Oldies' from the traditional oldies format is its deep playlist and current sound. A typical oldies station will play the same 200 songs over and over again. At 94.7 True Oldies you'll never know what you'll be hearing next."
The new WZZN will have local programming during morning and afternoon drive, with a local Saturday night "Oldies party show." The rest of the station's programming will be filled out by Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel. The station launches with Shannon's programming to start, with the morning and afternoon shows to debut by the end of the year.
