At 6:30 a.m. this morning (10/6), the sounds of silence were broken on Sirius Satellite Radio's Howard Stern channel. First were some muffled voices and then Stern's channel starting ripping as Junior The Farter provided the first Howard Stern branded content at Sirius -- a 4.5-rated fart.
While Stern was doing his syndicated morning program at his WXRK/New York studio, a few blocks around the corner at Sirius he had a team in place to kick off his channel. Tentatively dubbed "Douche 100" for its location at Sirius channel 100, Stern's channel is providing a day full of "farters" to break the silence.
Stern wasn't allowed by his current employers, Infinity Broadcasting, to listen to the silence being broken live on the air, so he headed to a commercial break to check out the action at Sirius, but not before putting the momentous occasion in perspective by asking, "Would you have banned broadcasting astronauts landing on the moon?"
Overseeing the "Day Of Farters" at Sirius was Nuno, designated by Stern as the first program director for his channel. Throughout the day, different farters will be featured on Stern's channel before going back to silence.
