Green Day

Tracks from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown will be released for Rock Band, with more Green Day songs for the popular video game on the way soon. A three-pack of "21 Guns," "Know Your Enemy" and "East Jesus Nowhere" will be available July 7. "We are excited to be working with MTV and Harmonix," said Billie Joe Armstrong. "They are leaders and visionaries in the world of music and video games, and Rock Band is a really cool way for fans of all ages to experience our music." Green Day wrap up their week on Last Call with Carson Daly tonight with a performance as their alter ego, Foxboro Hot Tubs.

50 Cent is putting out a project of all-new material called War Angel LP on Tuesday via ThisIs50.com. This is not his next official studio album, but he says it's more like a street album than a mixtape. He is in L.A. right now finishing up the album Before I Self Destruct with Timbaland and Polow Da Don, and he plans to unleash underground releases all summer before dropping his official LP in September. "Creatively, this is not even a mixtape. That's why I put LP next to it," 50 told MTV's Mixtape Daily. "My core audience will understand it immediately, and it's written specifically for that."

Tool singer Maynard James Keenan's side business as a winemaker will be highlighted in a new documentary, Blood Into Wine. A trailer for the film can be seen online here. Blood Into Wine tells the story of how Keenan and his vineyard partner Eric Glomski brought their wine business to Arizona. The film will see a limited release in February and March of next year, with an accompanying soundtrack featuring original material from Keenan.

After slamming his head on a stage prop at Sunday's Tony Awards (footage of which has been posted all over the Internet), Bret Michaels has released a statement regarding the incident. "In hindsight, there is no doubt I got my bell rung, unfortunately it has been posted and perhaps funny to watch, but I can assure you it has been painful to experience," he wrote on his MySpace blog. Michaels said he wasn’t told about the moving set piece at rehearsal, otherwise "I would have stopped or at least ducked so as not to be knocked out at the Tonys." He suffered a fractured nose and injured lip in the collision. He also wrote that he doesn’t believe the accident was malicious, but the Tonys’ public statements that he was uninjured and merely "missed his mark" were "irresponsible." "No matter what the situation was, the prop should have been stopped or at least slowed for a few more seconds until I cleared the stage," Michaels said.

Metallica will play a benefit concert for their local Marin History Museum in the fall. In a video screened at the museum's "Marin Rocks" gala on Saturday night, James Hetfield mentioned "the third week in September" as a possible date for the concert. "We want to keep the flame growing and flowing," Hetfield said, appearing in the video with Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction. "Metallica very much supports the 'Marin Rocks' project, and especially the educational programs to be offered for our youth," Merry Alberigi, the Museum's executive director, told the Marin Independent Journal. "They have kids in school here in Marin County and they want to give back."

Third Eye Blind is running a contest to find a band, known or unknown, to open for them at their show at New York's Roseland Ballroom on June 16. Interested bands should email their MySpace page links to openfor3eb@gmail.com. All entries are due by this Sunday, June 14. Third Eye Blind's new album, Ursa Major, will be released August 18.

Widespread Panic has been announced as a headliner for this year's Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans, which takes place from October 30 to November 1. This year's Voodoo Experience will feature more than 160 acts on eight stages. The full lineup is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Spin pays tribute to Prince's classic Purple Rain with the music magazine's July issue. In addition to a cover story on the album and film's 25th anniversary, a free downloadable tribute album to Purple Rain will be available. The tribute record, Purplish Rain, includes a version of "When Doves Cry" sung by ex-Prince protege Apollonia and recorded with Greg Dulli and his Twilight Singers band.

Australian rockers Jet return to the States this summer in support of their third record, Shaka Rock. They kick off the tour at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 4 and wind up at the Mile High Music Festival in Denver on July 19. Shaka Rock is due out August 25.
