Slipknot | Slipknot has announced a handful of U.S. headlining dates that will kicks off on August 22 in Seattle and run through September 5 in Milwaukee. Members of OutsideThe9.com, the band’s official fan club, will be offered tickets first with a presales starting on June 24. A limited number of tickets will be available for general presale via Slipknot1.com on June 25, with the majority of tickets going onsale to the general public starting June 26 and 27. Anthrax and Black Dahlia Murder will be the opening acts for the two-week tour.
Nickelback dominated Canada's 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards, winning three times for the clip for "Gotta Be Somebody." The Canadian rockers won for Best Video, Best Rock Video and Best Postproduction. Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas also each won an award. The Canadian video awards show was hosted by The Jonas Brothers.
Gossip blogger Perez Hilton and Black Eyed Pea Will.I.Am were reportedly in a scuffle over the weekend in Toronto, where they were both in town for the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards. At around 3:45 a.m. on June 22, Hilton started posting on Twitter (rather than calling the police, for some reason) that he was "in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now." In a second tweet he wrote, "I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke." The police did come and investigate the incident, but Will says it was Perez who was the aggressor. The Rapper posted a video on Dipdive.com where he explains that Perez was being rude to his friend and bandmate Fergie. So when he saw the blogger at a party that night, "I go up to him and I say, 'Hey can you do me a favor Perez? Can you not be blatantly rude with our group on your Web site?' And he said, 'I don't respect you.' And I'm like, 'What? OK, if you don't respect me that's cool.' So this dude walks away, I leave and then he says, 'You know, that was very f----t of you for coming at me like that.' This dude says in front of a whole bunch of people, fans outside, 'You're a f----t, Will.I.Am.' So he walks away and one of the fans gets all crazy and they start some stuff with Perez Hilton, and I'm just sitting there just minding my own business waiting for a car and whatnot." The Peas tour manager, Polo Molina, has now been charged with assault in the incident. He is due in court in August.
American Idol runner up Adam Lambert will release "Want" as the first single from his forthcoming album, On With The Show, but it is an album of songs that were recorded in 2007 and 2008 before his run on Idol. The album will be out this summer via Hi Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records. Lambert says the material is quite different from what he is working on now for his first post-Idol CD, which is due in the fall. "The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on," Lambert said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to be working with some of today's hottest songwriters and producers and can't wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like."Capitol will roll out a second round of deluxe Radiohead re-issues on August 25. Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail To The Thief will be released as both two-disc sets and deluxe editions with a bonus DVD. Radiohead's first three albums were re-issued in a similar manner earlier this year. Linkin Park's only North American concert of 2009 will be at Epicenter '09: So. Cal's Rock Explosion on August 22 in Pomona, CA. Linkin Park will co-headline the festival with Tool. Alice In Chains, Atreyu, Hollywood Undead, Street Sweeper Social Club and Wolfmother will also be a part of the Epicenter festival. Maxwell has discussed his upcoming comeback trilogy of records with Billboard. He said that July's BLACKsummer'snight is "darker. It has a bluesier side and features more despondent records. It speaks plenty to love lost." The second part of the trilogy, blackSUMMER'Snight, is due out in 2010 and is "gospel music for the common person that wouldn't naturally get involved with that type of music." The final record in the series, blacksummer'sNIGHT, will be released in 2011 and Maxwell calls it "straight-up slow jam" music.
Green Day has debuted the video for "21 Guns," the second single from 21st Century Breakdown, exclusively on MySpace Music today. Watch the clip, directed by Marc Webb (Weezer, My Chemical Romance, (500) Days Of Summer), here.
Paul Stanley posted an update on the KISS website saying that the band is mere days away from finishing their new album. "Eleven tracks, and it IS everything I've told you," Stanley wrote. "It IS classic. It IS all written within the band. And IT ROCKS BIG TIME! [Guitarist] Tommy Thayer and [drummer] Eric Singer both handle lead vocals. The songs, sound and playing will knock your socks off. You will all be as proud and excited as we all are." No release date has been set, but Gene Simmons told actress Denise Richards during a Sirius XM interview that when the album does come out, it will be a Walmart exclusive. The promotional campaign will include Walmart dedicating an area of their stores to the band and dubbing it "Kiss Korner."
