 |
June 24, 2009

Miley Cyrus | Miley Cyrus' soundtrack to Hannah Montana: The Movie has been certified Platinum for sales of more than 1 million copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) monthly Gold and Platinum count. This achievement is nothing new for Miley, as the soundtrack marks her ninth career Platinum award. Rapper Flo Rida also had a big month in May, as he earned a plethora of digital sales certifications. His songs "Low" and "Right Round" went 5x and 3x Platinum respectively, while his latest single, "Sugar," was certified Gold. This totals more than 8.5 million digital downloads sold for Flo Rida.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga is still riding the success of the singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." The NYC-born artist, who took her name from the Queen song "Radio Gaga," received her first Platinum album award for her very first effort, The Fame. On the singles side, "Just Dance" has already been certified triple-Platinum.
Additionally, Maino, Asher Roth, Matt Nathanson and Shinedown each received their first ever single certifications in May. Maino’s "All The Above" earned the Brooklyn Rapper his premiere Gold. Asher Roth's "I Love College" went both Gold and Platinum for selling more than 1 million singles, and Matt Nathanson’s "Come On Get Higher" was upped to Platinum status. Shinedown's "Second Chance" also became a Platinum single in May.
