New Rihanna Single Dropping Tuesday
October 19, 2009

Rihanna

A rolling countdown on Rihanna's website is ticking down the seconds until 11:23 a.m. EST on Tuesday, when the first single from her new album will be revealed. FMQB has learned the new single is titled "Russian Roulette" and will be digitally delivered to radio Tuesday morning.

Producer Tricky Stewart told Rap-Up.com that a track written by The-Dream and produced by him would either be the first or second single, but he would not release its name. He also said a Rapper is featured on the track, but that MC remained a mystery. All he would reveal is that "It's uptempo. It's a club banger and it's edgy."

When asked if the new single is bigger than "Umbrella" - a song also written by The-Dream and produced by Stewart - he said, "No, it's different. It's a superstar taking a step in a totally different direction. This album is different than her past works." Stewart elaborated, "This is Rihanna coming into her own and going from being a girl that has been singing big, huge hit records, and the artist is awake and alive and moving on this project. She knows exactly what she wants to say, she knows how she wants to feel. It was an amazing experience working with her and just really getting into her headspace of what she wanted to do."

Stewart revealed that Rihanna also wrote some songs with Ne-Yo, and may have penned some on her own. "I think she probably did write on some of these songs. She's definitely lending her leadership," he said.

Rihanna's fourth album is due on November 23, as her website says simply, "
The Wait is Ova, Nov 23 09."
